What is a Home Health Care Nurse?

A home health nurse provides health care to patients/clients. They may work in a patient’s home or in an assisted living facility; some positions require the nurse to have multiple patients and visit them at different home locations throughout the day.

They listen to any patient issues, make diagnoses, and administer care such as dispensing medicines, caring for wounds, and ensuring any machines the patient is using are working.

Continuing analysis of patients’ status is required so that the care regimen may be modified as necessary; the nurse must have the discretion to make medical referrals if needed, especially if there is deterioration in a patient’s health. Source
